Yuanxiao Festival of Guangzhou (Chinese Valentine's Day)
 Time: during January of the lunar calendar
celebrate the yu xiao festival and wish for a good harvest in the day of the Nan Han Dynasty . the lights inside the Flower Tower at the Chang Shou Temple ( now Known as Liu Rung Temple) were so bright, the temple was said to shine like the moon. Thus, the celebration also came to be known as the moonlight show. The *ight show*you will see at the Yuan Xiao Festivals of today is actually an exhibition of traditional Chinese palace, rolling, fruit and dragon lanterns. Supplementing the local lantem show are also lanterns from Zigong, Sichuan, Datong, Shansi and many other places in China. The best venues to catch this fascinating spectacle include: the Guangzhou, Yuexiu, Memorial Park and Guangzhou Culture Parks. |
